Augsburg Fortress, the publishing ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America uses SharePoint on their corporate intranet and extranet sites. AccessECM was retained to work on multiple efforts around the platform including configuration of authentication that permits collaboration between employees and external vendors and contractors; the creation of a process allowing users to execute SharePoint workflows against several items at once; reorganization of taxonomy and metadata usage; and the development of an issue reporting and tracking system. In order to complete these projects, AccessECM performed the following activities:
- Defined and configured Claims Based Authentication and Forms Based Authentication providers with custom, branded login pages. Augsburg Fortress employees are able to log in using their Active Directory credentials and external collaborators use a browser-based login form.
- Created solution that lets users select specific items and trigger workflows from the ribbon. SharePoint administrators are able to configure and customize available workflows and their representation.
- Created a metadata bulk update ribbon button on their extranet site making it possible to update multiple items with a single click.
- Added a button labeled “Add From Clipboard” to a list in their site that adds an image from the clipboard as an attachment to the list item.
AccessECM has provided solutions that met all of the customers current needs and formed a long-term relationship around their SharePoint activities. Augsburg Fortress is now using the new SharePoint solutions and recognizing many benefits including a simple collaboration framework that facilitates the secure exchange of classified content between internal staff and external vendors. The new issue tracking system has also led to increased information worker productivity through improved communication with the help desk team.
